Beyoncé has finally made her much-awaited return to the music scene.
Queen B has announced her newest album, Renaissance, will be released on July 29th, says a product listing on her website. The record appeared to be labeled “Act I.”
Twitter was lit up with posts about the new album following Beyonce’s change of social media bios adding both title and date of the album.
Queen B remains the ultimate music mystery. No specific details were disclosed, which is only in line with her trademark mysterious release techniques – but an unverified tweet from a tireless fan account Beyonce Legion hints at 16 songs being made available for purchase or stream.
After the announcement, British Vogue’s Edward Enninful said he heard the album in person: “Instantly, a wall of sounds hits me,” he said.

“Soaring vocals and fierce beats combine, and in a split second, I’m transported back to the clubs of my youth. I want to get up and start throwing moves. It’s music I love to my core. Music that makes you rise, that turns your mind to cultures and subcultures, to our people past and present, music that will unite so many on the dance floor, music that touches your soul. As ever with Beyoncé, it is all about the intent. I sit back, after the wave, absorbing it all.”
The Renaissance campaign will be launched with a CD, T-shirt and collectible box, while the product image will update once the campaign artwork is disclosed. The set also includes 28 pages of the booklet as well as a mini-poster.
On Wednesday, following Beyoncé’s profile picture change – it went black, fans quickly pointed out that a graphic post on Twitter from her nonprofit, Beygood, cryptically indicated upcoming music.
Merely one square displayed unexplained music in a montage of album covers: a red hand with gloves, pointing to the album cover to the left – Brandy’s B7. So now we know that B7, Beyoncé’s seventh album, is Renaissance.
