The glitz and glamour of a Las Vegas celebrity wedding are something that can’t be missed. A single paparazzi will roam around the venue, trying to snap pictures for their latest issue or magazine cover story about one famous couple who just got married.

But Jennifer Lopez has a well-known newsletter that’s called On The JLo. So she doesn’t need to rely on other media outlets to cover her wedding.

After her super pundited relationship and engagement with Ben Affleck 20 years previously, that is likely more sensible.

Jennifer revealed in the most recent issue of On The JLo that she had an intimate wedding with Ben. She said it was a small, private gathering – they stood in line with four other couples to get their license, and they almost got late.

“They graciously stayed open late a few times,” Mrs. Affleck said, “let us take pictures in a pink Cadillac convertible, evidently once used by the king himself (but if we wanted Elvis himself to show, that cost extra and he was in bed).”

Together with their children – all five – as witnesses, “a dress from an old movie and a jacket from Ben’s closet,” the pair exchanged vows and rings. The icon referred to it as “the best possible wedding we could have imagined.”

Mrs. Affleck also posted a video showing herself, dazzling in white, after putting on the wedding clothes in the chapel’s break room and Mr. Affleck in his “wedding changing area,” aka the men’s bathroom.

“Stick around long enough, and maybe you’ll find the best moment of your life in a drive-through in Las Vegas at twelve-thirty in the morning in the tunnel of love drive-through, with your kids and the one you’ll spend forever with,” the superstar said.

“Love is a great thing, maybe the best of things – and worth waiting for.”

She concluded the newsletter, saying: “With love,” she signed, “Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Affleck.”

2001

When JLo and Ben met on the set of Gigli in December 2001, they were just two actors going about their business day to form a friendship that would last forever.

2002

In April, the speculation of JLo and Ben Affleck being in a romantic relationship increased when he made an advertisement for their movie appear front-and-center on page 1 alongside several other ads. He even praised her for her performance.

“It has been nothing but an honor and a pleasure to work with you,” he wrote in the ad. “I only wish I were lucky enough to be in all your movies.”

And then signed it: “With love, respect, and gratitude, Ben Affleck.”

JLo and Chris Judd announced their split in July of that year. They had been apart for some time, though.

“Jennifer Lopez and Chris Judd have announced they have resolved all issues arising out of their marriage,” said the pair’s lawyers in a statement at the time. “The resolution was extremely amicable… The two will remain friends.”

The canoodling of JLo and Ben started a month later, and paparazzi-struck photos of them circulated.

The couple got engaged three months later in November. Ben went on one knee with a resplendent, custom 6.1-carat diamond ring in pink from Harry Winston.

He also went on to play Lopez’s love interest in the music video for her song, “Jenny From the Block.” Affleck, in the video, kissed her popular booty in a scene of the pair on a yacht.

2003

JLo and Ben made their red carpet debut at the 75th Annual Academy Awards.

But before the couple rung their wedding bells, they delayed it and released this statement:

“Due to the excessive media attention surrounding our wedding, we have decided to postpone the date. When we found ourselves seriously contemplating hiring three separate ‘decoy brides’ at three different locations, we realized that something was awry. We began to feel that the spirit of what should have been the happiest day of our lives could be compromised. We felt what should have been a joyful and sacred day could be spoiled for us, our families, and our friends.”

At the time, sources said the couple was “taking a break.”
