Artists are born every day, but truly great artists are a lot less easy to come by. Truly brilliant artists pour their blood, sweat, and tears into work that makes people feel something deep or profound. Not all artists can evoke such strong emotions with their pieces, and this is why genuine artistic geniuses such as Da Vinci and Van Gogh are praised for centuries after they are gone. Nemo Intelligere, a.k.a Nobody No-one no1, is an artist attempting to make his mark in history with his renaissance style. His latest work, The Grail, is a modern homage to Da Vinci’s Last Supper that has captivated the hearts of many art enthusiasts and collectors.
A true renaissance mind living in the now, Nemo Intelligere is the apprentice-turned-master of the twenty-first century. Nemo was once a working apprentice creating beautifully successful compositions across the art world. Divine inspiration called to him, and this epiphany led him to reveal man’s true identity through art. Nemo Intelligere has taken it upon himself to provide an understanding of all individual relationships with the core of creation as his life’s work.
On one particular sunrise in late February 2019, Nemo Intelligere was doing exactly what he does best—pressing clay into his hands, warming and working a wad that would soon become the foundations of his latest creation.
After nine long months, Nemo completed his work—a life-sized sculpture of Leonardo Da Vinci’s Last Supper in an immaculate and captivating depiction. The Grail was sculpted to the exact details of the original painting, along with some subtle changes that signify purpose. Visitors who come to admire the sculpture say that it is as if you are in the same room as Jesus and the twelve disciples themselves.
As a matter of fact, this was intended by the artist. Nemo Intelligere’s The Grail 2019 brings the room into the scene of the Last Supper by making the entire space a part of the artwork. “I wanted to honor the fact that the original rests on a wall in Milano, and so the sculptures should mirror that in a similar fashion,” he said.
Nemo Intelligere is a big fan of the famed painter and has been studying him for as long as he can remember. Nemo’s creation of The Grail coincides with the iconic painter’s 500th death anniversary. “No other artist ever mattered more to me. He was something much greater than an artist, and that’s what resonates in me,” he said.
Nemo’s work currently resides in a private collection in Connecticut after it was sold.
“When you work in the spirit you see things, patterns, codes. Some codes take years to reveal themselves, sometimes five hundred years,” Nemo Intelligere said.
His passion for studying Da Vinci extends beyond the art world and far into the ancient world. Nemo has studied and researched Da Vinci exhaustively, going so far as to compare notes with physicists and polymaths who are using their findings to explore mysteries of ancient Egyptian origin.
Nemo’s work has a message for everyone. It’s up to the observer to find their connection with the work and crack the code for themselves. Learn more about The Grail from its studio introduction and official video.
