Everyone needs a good laugh, and this fact has inspired emerging stand-up comedian and actor Harry Osterhoudt to be the best at what he does. Comedy is one of the most challenging types of content to create in the entertainment business today, and Harry is more than willing to see these challenges head-on and stretch his creativity. With a positive attitude and a determination to succeed in all aspects of his newfound career, Harry is bound to be the next big thing in the entertainment business.
The rising star started doing his comedy stints in local bars. Prior to joining the entertainment business, he played semi-professional basketball for five years with the American Basketball Association (ABA). Unknown to him, destiny had other great opportunities in store for him. He went on a hiatus for two years and resurfaced with a newfound passion for making people laugh. The New Jersey-born Harry Osterhoudt also starred in the movie Notorious in 2009. He also appeared in Starz Power Season 6, Love and Hip-Hop, The Politician Season 2, Starz Power Book Season 2, Amazon’s Harlem, Trappin’, Those Who Can’t, and the feature film The Blue Labyrinth on NBC. Harry is excited to be featured in the next upcoming Power Book season 3.
Apart from his television and film roles, Harry Osterhoudt is also a professional model, appearing in several print and runway projects for local boutiques and designers in New Jersey. In 2010, he was also seen in the Forman Mills commercial. All throughout his professional journey, he was always destined to be in the spotlight and bring joy to the lives of people.
“Being published is a huge accomplishment. As for any entertainer, it’s a staple in your career. It shows that my hard work and dedication are being acknowledged but not just that it gives me an opportunity to display my personal growth,” the comedian shared. “As an upcoming entertainer, sometimes it may feel like you’re getting nowhere fast, or you may feel like a starving artist. Don’t give up.”
The rising comedian understands how competitive and toxic the industry can be, but he is not easily deterred by the performance of others. To him, his brand of entertainment does not intend to compete but to simply make people happy at a time in the world’s history when there is so much pain, suffering, and uncertainty. At the end of the day, his motivation to stand in front of an audience is to give people a meaningful and worthwhile experience, allowing them to forget—if only for a moment—whatever pains they may be carrying in life.
“One thing that sets me apart from other candidates is my background. I previously performed at Broadway comedy club, Scottie Comedy Cove and Stress Factor. I was able to create a fan base where I am considered a regular. This helped me with my improvisational skills and allowed me to communicate with my audience. I’ve found that I’m not the typical person in this role, which allows me to create outstanding content,” Harry Osterhoudt revealed.
Like most of the people who appreciate his brand of comedy, Harry Osterhoudt also went through many adversities in life, but he chose to make the most of every experience and make sure to learn from them. If there is one remarkable thing that people can get out of his life story, it is his deep passion for creativity. Ultimately, he believes that laughter is the best medicine, and as the world of acting continues to open up to him in a way that amazes him, he is more than excited to transform himself and become the character that he needs to be.
