Athletes and sports enthusiasts undergo hundreds of hours of training to hone their skills, and the Muay Thai students and athletes at TAG Muay Thai are no different. However, going through rigorous training is only one aspect of athleticism. Maintaining a healthy body is also vital to be in tip-top shape.
To help his TAG athletes stay in top condition, TAG Muay Thai founder Christopher M. Aboy brought in experts Dr. Jane Pavalkis and Jason Sturm to work with his students and give them access to top sports chiropractic care and expert coaching, ensuring they are in prime condition for their competitions.
Muay Thai is a physically demanding form of contact sport wherein students must learn the different stances, kicks, punches, spins, and takedowns to progress. But as students train to become Muay Thai athletes and join competitions, they must elevate other aspects of their training as well. An athlete’s tool is their body, and they need to take care of it to continue to compete in the sport they are passionate about. Christopher Aboy aims to provide the best training and support for his students at TAG Muay Thai through a collaboration with Dr. Jane Pavalkis and Jason Sturm.
Dr. Jane Pavalkis provides top chiropractic care through Nova Functional Sports Chiropractic. Dr. Jane was the first ever Crew captain for Merrimack College’s Crew Team and was highly competitive in soccer, basketball, and track while in high school. Dr. Jane Pavalkis also joined competitive Crossfit, Strongman, and Olympic Lifting. As a result, she has first-hand knowledge of the amount and extent of training that goes into preparing for a sports competition, and she uses this insight in her chiropractic practice.
Christopher Aboy also brought Old Glory Gym owner and top coach Jason Sturm to work with TAG Muay Thai athletes. Due to a training accident in 2002, Jason’s left leg was amputated, which led to his retirement from military service. As he was accustomed to an active lifestyle, he wanted to maintain his physical fitness as an amputee. It took him years to find adaptations that fit his specific needs. Since then, Jason Sturm has trained as a certified coach and has mentored numerous clients as they embrace an active lifestyle. As a coach, his philosophy has been to help his clients learn skills they can use in and out of the gym. He added, “I also use what I had learned to teach other clients with permanent adaptations to be physically fit. This translates to a different mentality when adapting training for all potential clients.”
TAG Muay Thai is a top Muay Thai gym in Sterling, Virginia that continues to produce disciplined and competent athletes in all skill levels. Christopher M. Aboy has developed his training programs to ensure that athletes under his care develop a strong foundation that motivates them to improve their skills continually. As his students decide to compete, Christopher goes above and beyond to ensure they are in their best condition.
This collaboration with Dr. Jane Pavalkis and Jason Sturm is an extension of Christopher’s commitment to his TAG athletes. The renowned experts visited the students, assessed which areas they needed help with, and devised individual programs tailored to each of their specific needs.
Expecting to see a significant improvement in TAG athletes’ performance after sessions with Dr. Jane Pavalkis and Jason Sturm, Christopher said, “I have always operated TAG Muay Thai in a way that pushes each student to improve their skills. And working with Dr. Jane Pavalkis and Coach Jason Sturm will help my students become better athletes.”
