Brad Pitt Sues Angelina Jolie Over the Sale of Her Vineyard Ownership Stake

Brad Pitt has taken legal action against Angelina Jolie for selling their French vineyard ownership stake that they acquired back in 2008 and made their wedding venue in 2014.

According to the court documents, the vineyard Chateau Miraval SA “has grown into a multimillion-dollar international success story” through Pitt’s management.

Filed Thursday in Los Angeles, the lawsuit claims that despite the former couple buying it together, Pitt put much more effort and investment into converting the Chateau Miraval SA from a year-by-year losing business into “one of the world’s most highly regarded producers of rosé wine.” In addition, he turned an area of the property into a private family residence.

When Pitt and Jolie signed up to start their business, they agreed that either of them would not trade each other’s shares without permission.

After Pitt and Jolie divorced in 2016, they had talked about the actor potentially purchasing her ownership share; whether it be all or part of what she owned was undecided at that point.

The complaint says; however, Jolie notified Pitt in January of 2021 through writing that she had concluded a “painful decision, with a heavy heart”: She could no longer keep any ownership in the business, although they had looked forward to “grow old together” in the vineyard to begin with.

Jolie’s lawyers have notified Pitt’s representatives that they will no longer continue discussing the matter and, as per the court documents, “accused Pitt of having no intent of finalizing an agreement.”

The first time Pitt and his representatives heard of the news of the sale, stated in the lawsuit, was when Tenute del Mondo published a press release on his acquisition of the share of the vineyard, and it was a massive blow for Pitt.

Jolie is being charged for breach of contract by Pitt’s lawyers. They are requesting a trial by jury.
