Alexis Green is one such woman, staking her claim in the beauty industry by providing other women with her expertise in hair and makeup.
Alexis Green was born in Newark, New Jersey and raised in Plainfield. She is a self-taught hair and makeup stylist who went through a business journey unlike any other. Hairstyling and makeup were the gateways to help her feel alive and beautiful. As a young woman, Lex battled severe acne, obesity, and being bullied.
“I struggled with social outings due to my lack of self-esteem, so I found comfort in doing my own hair and makeup ‘in my own little corner.’ I’d feel rejuvenated, brand new, different, and completely transformed in the best way. I knew then that I could make other women and men feel this exact same way,” shared the esteemed entrepreneur.
Coming from a city where everyone had talent but allowed their fears to consume them, Alexis Green wanted to prove to herself that fear had no power over her because she was capable of chasing her dreams despite the lack of support and hate that she experienced. “I do this all from the bottom of my heart. I do this to set an example for others that anything is possible,” shared Lex.
She is doing God’s work, with the ability to make a person feel whole again and turn their day from extremely bad to extremely good just by doing a 50-minute makeup consultation or altering their hairstyle. Alexis Green is extremely fulfilled with her career. She is passionate about what she does and is always happy seeing her clients look and feel beautiful thanks to her.
Alexis Green feels that the current generation has lost their genuine passion for hair and makeup. She believes that people are only in it for the financial rewards and exposure, but personally, to her, hair and makeup are a genuine form of art. She hopes to spread her message of using hair and makeup as a powerful form of expression.
“I tell people all the time that we are human canvases. We have the ability to transform into almost anything we can imagine and be and feel whoever we want to be. Hair and makeup are deeper than the physical. It’s mental and even spiritual for some. I sleep, think, and breathe hair and makeup,” said Alexis Green eloquently.
In the near future, Alexis Green sees herself opening her own beauty salon called “Fix Your Crown.” She hopes to transform her salon into a safe space for all women and men who want to feel like complete royalty. “Fix Your Crown” will provide proper hair care and skincare with complimentary food, giving the clients a form of service that only royalty can enjoy. Lex also hopes to open up a center where teens and adults can rent out space so they can have an escape to focus on their goals and passions without any distractions, so they can be as creative as they want to be without feeling alone or judged.
