At first glance, one would never think that fitness expert and model Mark Juncaj once went through alcohol addiction. As Mark often overflows with positivity and confidence, it is unthinkable to entertain the idea that the fitness enthusiast once struggled with an unhealthy lifestyle that robbed him of several opportunities. Fortunately, he was able to overcome his addiction, start all over again, and find his purpose in life.
The clothing and supplement model is currently working on his first book, outlining practical and helpful tips to overcome addiction. It will be made available to the public in the next six months. By sharing his challenging experience, Mark Juncaj hopes to shed light on the tremendous turmoil that people struggling with addiction go through and inspire people to support them emotionally. Additionally, he also wants to reach out to people who are currently struggling with addiction and help them find a better path.
“I love people and I love helping people through my experiences in life! I get more joy out of doing things for others than for myself! I have learned through my faith that the key to this thing called life is elimination of self by helping others,” Mark Juncaj shares.
A study on the prevalence of binge drinking and heavy alcohol use published by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) in 2018 shows that 26.45% of people aged 18 and above reported that they engaged in binge drinking in the past month. 6.6% of respondents revealed that they engaged in heavy alcohol use in the past month. According to the 2018 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), 14.4 million adults in the United States have Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD). The same study reveals that 9.2 million of these are men, while 5.3 million are women. Surprisingly, 88,000 people die from alcohol-related causes each year. It has become the third leading cause of death in the United States alone.
Mark Juncaj was a high school sports star who later found himself enslaved by alcohol. As he began working on recovering from his addiction, it became clear to him what he wanted to do in life – to help others live healthier lives. After turning his life around, Mark became a mentor to numerous people going through addiction. His teachings on faith, fitness, and recovery have allowed him to help people transform their lives for the better. He also puts great emphasis on the importance of maintaining one’s mental health.
In the next few years, Mark Juncaj sees himself growing his social media following by the millions, not to be puffed up with pride but to be able to gauge that he has, indeed, made an impact and a difference in the lives of millions of people. “I would like everyone to know that despite your past you are always able to get back up and rebuild your life so that you not only can be someone who prospers for him or herself but that you can be someone that impacts the lives of others! I do this through faith and fitness,” Mark explains.
At the rate that Mark Juncaj is going, it is evident that his passion for helping others will eventually pay off by seeing changed lives among those who heed his advice. Just as he has redeemed himself after overcoming the darkest season in his life, he is looking forward to seeing people experience the same and start to see things turn around in their lives.
