Music producer Blaqout has been producing music since about 2014. Since then, he has been recognized by electronic dance music greats such as Excision, Borgone, Illenium, and many more. He’s played over 200 events nationwide—from nightclubs to festivals and even warehouses—and caught one of the initial waves of underground dubstep as it entered the public space. After a brief hiatus, he is back with a vengeance, releasing records constantly and rivaling numbers that EDM labels would typically pull without any label backing him, all through his independent work.

“Building my project independently has been the biggest challenge by far,” Blaqout says, “because the entire system had to be built from the ground up.”

He adds that he wanted to avoid conforming to what the labels were signing. While this allows him to release whatever he wants, getting his music out can sometimes be challenging. He is, however, thankful for the people who have followed and stuck with him over time. Without the fans spreading the word, releasing music independently would have been impossible.

“I would say that if you set your sights on the goal and never give up pursuing it, eventually it will work out,” the DJ says. “Breaking through and building this project has been tough, and there are times when I want to give up and throw in the towel. If I had done that, nothing good could have come.”

Blaqout adds that no matter what your situation looks like at present, your efforts will pay off if you remain steady and consistent, even if it takes time to accomplish.

Over the next few years, Blaqout’s goal is to seek out musical mashups that have not been done yet—or, at the very least, have not been seen in mainstream music yet. He’s always been intrigued by combining genres that have not been mixed.

With over 12,000 followers on Soundcloud and 22,000 on Spotify, Blaqout’s music has already reached an audience some independent artists could only dream of having. His heavy sound and catalog of records can be recognized on labels like Buygore, Uplink Audio, and Fool’s Gold Records, showcasing his talent and keen taste in the sound he stands alongside. His track “Hit Em Up” even received placement on the Netflix Show Kipo and the Age of the Wonderbeast in 2020, and his song “Chicken Soup” charted at #2 on Hypeddit’s release charts.

One of his most recent releases, “Infernal Wrath,” came out just last September and features his usual high-energy dubstep sound that displays a raw energy that is sure to resonate with fans of dubstep music. Blaqout described the track as a manifestation of rage, energy, and passion. Every drop, he claimed, is meant to stir something within you.

Blaqout is a talent to watch and a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. With sharp sounds, addictive beats, and awe-inspiring drops, his sound will undoubtedly appeal to dubstep fans locally and abroad.
