Hip-Hop Artist Inky on Making Caribbean Trap Music and Being a Pillar of the Community

The music industry is filled with talented individuals, with powerful vocals and catchy lyrics powering the trends and swaying the beat of nations. Amid this sea of talents and accomplished entertainers, Caribbean rapper Inky still manages to stand out as a dominant voice. His powerful and authentic vocals are distinct on tracks like the king of the Gods of Mount Olympus Zeus himself.

Born Sharn Forrest on July 21, 1990, in Jamaica, Inky is a talented music producer, songwriter, and rapper representing his cultural heritage through music. As an artist, Inky has established his brand with his latest strings of releases, displaying his innate musical talent on tracks like “Island Slang,” “Proud of That,” and “Hold a 100.” Unlike many of his peers, Inky was never given any handouts and always had to make calculated moves to excel in his chosen field. However, through sheer determination and hard work riding on the back of raw talent, Inky has carved a name for himself as one of the most natural authentic lyrical artists to come out of Sint Maarten.

Heavily rooted in the island tune of the Caribbean, Inky’s music has a distinct vibe to it, its lyrics and melodies helping everyday people through their lives. “Music is more than just art to me; it’s a means of communication that I capitalize on and use as an outlet to release my pain. I make music for everyone looking for a temporary escape from life’s daily hardship,” he passionately shares. His singles and collaborations have grossed over one hundred thousand streams, getting mainstream attention. Inky is focused on continued growth throughout every quarter of 2021, reaching for new heights with his latest string of single releases and collabs with various artists and stamping his signature sound as the next melodic star to watch out for.

Unlike many new generation artists, Inky is dedicated to building a legacy from his craft by making timeless music and being a pillar of support for his community. He draws his motivation from watching his musical idols like Damedash and Jay-Z build a brand that goes way beyond music and the different impact they made in other fields of business. “I want to build an authentic, unique brand that stands out within the culture and attracts billion-dollar investors and large corporations that have products and services that I can partner with that can make a change to the community through my fan base,” he explained.

In the coming years, Inky hopes to establish himself as a reputable brand in hip-hop culture, focusing on his artistry and career growth and brand building to attain a CEO position on his record label. He also wants to help aspiring artists navigate the industry’s path and avoid the same mistakes he made so they can have a smoother journey on their way to the top. As he continues on his journey as a music artist, Inky hopes to inspire everyone who is pursuing their dreams. He wants to encourage them to keep their head up and fix their eyes on the goal of making their dream a realization.
