Wars either leave people dead or kill something inside them. It might be dreams, visions, ambitions or the willingness to exist altogether. It just is one thing that has profound ripple effects on those that experience it, and many people worldwide are fighting various wars in their lives. Carmelo Rodriguez is a part of those statistics, and he fought to get out. He’s now built a life coaching practice to help other people get out, get their lives back, and revive whatever was killed in the process.
Surviving a combat tour in Iraq and returning home to being declared dead by The Veteran Affairs (VA) was the beginning of his woes. Dealing with the rigors of the tour in Iraq and fighting back for his life despite being alive became the two most important things he needed to take care of. Even though his death declaration was a glitch, it took him two years to get things right again, and he has described that time as the hardest thing he’s ever done, even more than his time in combat and his deprived childhood.
Taking back his life with a daily affirmation of life and a burning drive to seize every moment to live, Carmelo Rodriguez now works as a certified life coach and motivational speaker. He is blessed with the exceptional ability to help people regain their lives from anything they might have lost it to. His extensive background in law enforcement, the military, and crisis intervention makes him qualified to develop actions that people have to take to live fully. He’s well-grounded at analyzing mindsets and required lifestyle goals, promoting awareness of self-destructive actions, and supplying necessary knowledge to help his clients gain an action plan, have self-focus, and have burning motivation within them. “For those who feel that the life they want is beyond their grasp, they have to stop just existing and fight for their lives,” he said.
Carmelo Rodriguez has written six books as part of his efforts to help as many people globally as possible. His services include confidence coaching, motivational speaking, and personal fitness training. With certifications in crisis management, conflict management, and negotiations, a bachelor’s degree in science, and a master’s degree in business administration, he has developed himself to be a well-rounded professional qualified to help people build lives that work in today’s world.
He shared, “The ‘11th hour’ is defined as ‘the latest possible time before it is too late to still make changes.’ I want to work and connect with people who find themselves fighting in the ‘12th hour.’ Being declared dead by your government was the 12th hour for me; after all, I was ‘dead.’ The 12th hour requires a miracle, so my audience is made up of those people who find themselves in hopeless situations.”
Carmelo Rodriguez took it on himself to shed more light on the wrongful declaration of death for veterans at the VA, and he’s equally committed to helping anyone in such a situation get their life back. One of his books, Dead Soldier, talks about it more extensively. Surviving neglect as a child and learning to survive all by himself are the two major things that motivated his new brand. “I know what it is like to be in situations that require me to act on my own on behalf of others in which case I am the one responsible for the outcome. After sorting out my own situation with the VA, I received many requests for help from others across a spectrum of industries. So I decided to formalize all that I learned in a way that would be accessible to others,” he said.
He sees himself taking his life coaching business and speaking full-time by traveling to every part of the world with a full administrative team working with him.
