It is not common for a neurosurgical robotics engineer to leave academic research to work on a marketing product. Yet this is exactly what is happening in New York.
Cliqk has brought on Alvin Pan, an emerging talent in autonomous medical systems and large-scale video learning, as Chief Technology Officer. Pan previously developed reinforcement learning agents used in surgical robotics and medical imaging workflows. He is now applying similar systems thinking to a different kind of problem: how founders and creators distribute content and grow their brands across the internet.
Cliqk is a marketing operating system that posts content across all major social platforms in one click and helps founders and creators grow their brands from one place. It removes the friction of managing multiple platforms by centralizing content distribution and growth into a single workflow. Instead of manually handling publishing, scheduling, and platform coordination, users rely on one system to manage how content goes live everywhere at once.
Before joining Cliqk, Pan worked at the intersection of robotics, computer vision, and healthcare AI. His experience spans publishing machine learning research at Carnegie Mellon to building VideoLLM-based robotic assistance systems at NYU Langone. That work placed him among a small group of young engineers contributing to early frameworks for autonomous surgical support.
Alongside this technical background, Pan maintained a consistent interest in creative communication. Outside of research, he spent time editing short films, sketching, and producing experimental sound projects. In a recent internal note, he wrote that he had always been interested in how expression moves, not only how systems function, but how ideas travel from one person to another.
That question, how ideas travel, ultimately led him to Cliqk.
Cliqk CEO Rohan Gurram, alongside Gary “Bolo” Sargeant and Ilias Anwar, had been assembling a founding team capable of combining technical precision with cultural awareness. They identified a recurring issue faced by nearly every modern founder and creator. Making content is no longer the hardest part. Distributing it consistently across platforms is.
“Most people do not struggle with ideas,” Gurram said. “They struggle with execution across platforms. Cliqk exists to remove that friction. Alvin brings a level of structured thinking that helps us build systems people can actually rely on.”
As CTO, Pan is responsible for designing the technical foundation that supports Cliqk’s core workflow. His focus is on reliability, scalability, and clarity rather than experimental automation. Instead of replacing creativity, the platform is built to reduce the operational burden that comes with posting, scheduling, and managing content across multiple social networks.
According to Gurram, Pan approaches distribution the same way he approached robotics research. He treats it as a complex environment where small inefficiencies compound quickly, and where system design matters more than surface-level features.
Pan describes his transition as a continuation rather than a departure.
“I did not leave research to move away from science,” he said. “I left to apply scientific reasoning to distribution, which is one of the most persistent problems in the modern attention economy.”
Industry observers note that this move reflects a broader shift. Engineers with deep AI and systems backgrounds are increasingly applying their skills to coordination problems rather than pure generation. The challenge is no longer producing content, but ensuring it reaches the right audiences without requiring constant manual effort.
Cliqk’s approach aligns with that shift. By centralizing posting and growth into a single workflow, the platform allows founders and creators to focus on message and strategy instead of platform logistics.
Pan’s addition to the team signals Cliqk’s commitment to building durable infrastructure rather than short-term tooling. The goal is not to overwhelm users with features, but to make posting everywhere simple, repeatable, and reliable.
