People often take career paths that the society accepts without question. In most cases, communities already have a set perception on which professions are acceptable and which ones are not. Despite the pre-judgments on what could be considered a taboo profession, Marguerite Martin has moved past the bias and embraced what she understands now is her proper place.
Marguerite was born and raised in Miami, Florida, where she still resides today. Coming from a Haitian-American family and has two loving parents, the Miami-native grew up in a traditional environment. Her father is a pastor at the South Miami Heights Haitian Baptist Mission Emmanuel, and Marguerite grew up in church all her life. This upbringing would serve to be a source of friction, especially after Marguerite would choose a career path that many in her circles considered less than noble. She became a camgirl and stripper, going by the screen names MzMargi004 and Rain.
Despite what has been a hard road full of turmoil, challenge, and opposition, Marguerite has embraced her true self in her chosen field. Of course, the cam girl didn’t always imagine that this would be the path that she would take. Before all that has transpired, Marguerite seemed to follow a very stereotypical path. She graduated from Miami Dade College with an Associate’s Degree in Accounting in 2012. By 2013, she picked up a Bachelor’s Degree from Ashford University and a Master’s Degree in Finance from Ashford University’s Forbes Business School. Marguerite would also later earn a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management from the same university.
Despite all that she had accomplished in school, Marguerite Martin didn’t feel like she was on the right life trajectory. “I did not know what I wanted to do after attending college,” shares the video performer. “I know that, after being employed in a corporate environment, there was a disconnect between employees and human resources.” Marguerite would also feel that she wasn’t living up to her true self, always fighting the urge that she wasn’t satisfied with her life.
That’s when Marguerite started performing shows online as a camgirl. She references years of experience as a video vixen for hip hop artists in the early 2000s. It’s this background that brought about her interest in doing webcam shows. As 2021 rolls in, she looks to return to the drawing board and restrategize. Her approach will be to give more free shows this year to continue building on her momentum.
But Marguerite maintains that her current profession isn’t her only and final destination. She hopes to do more in life that will add value to others’ lives and bring positive change. She still has hopes of doing something in the human resource space. “In college, I initially wanted to create a program where employers can utilize the program or software to sort of fill in the disconnect between employers and employees of those businesses.” shares Marguerite. For the time being, while she continues to build her experience, she is happy where she is.
