Mohamad “Smush” Masri Shares How He Built His Community as a Facebook Streamer

For a significant majority of people, video games serve as entertainment and escape from the harsh realities of life. As the world leaned towards technological advancements, companies have been able to create better games. Platforms have been developed to allow professional and even amateur gamers to share their adventures in online streams. As the years went on, streaming became a profession, and Mohamad Masri has been turning his passion into work as a streamer under the name “Smush.”

Mohamad Masri was born in Syria. He would later relocate to the United States with his family to seek a better future for their children. Growing up, Masri and his friends would play video games every day for many years. Because of their friendly competition, they would hone their skills in multiple genres. However, things would change as they entered their teenage years.

Throughout the four years of high school, Masri would have to work a nine-to-five job. He needed to generate income to pay his bills and keep food on the table. After his studies, Masri would take a chance at college. However, he soon found out that it was not for him as the tuition was too expensive, and it was difficult enough to pay his bills already. Masri dropped out and resorted to streaming on Facebook Gaming.

Taking up the name ‘Smush,’ Masri would stream for over a year before becoming an official partner with Facebook Gaming. He built a strong following and has amassed a community of over 114,000 followers on his page. As a streamer, Smush ensures that his viewers never experience a dull time and dead air. His streams consist of laughs and gameplay that keep the audience hooked and full of smiles.

“Not only do I play video games and make people laugh while doing it,” Smush shares, “But I have brought people together as a family that are able to feel happy in the chat.”

Smush has primarily been playing the hit video games Grand Theft Auto V and Call of Duty: War Zone. Additionally, a year into his streaming, he has also learned to develop for FiveM and has created a game server that hosts over 3,000 players. Even more impressive is the fact that Smush learned to do it all on his own.

Since the onset of the pandemic, people have been stuck at home and browsing through social media more. People often find Smush streaming upon chance, and once they dive in, they enjoy the content and become part of the community. Even those who join the chat forget about the hardships they had to endure that day or even month. Smush believes that it is important to constantly engage with his community and takes the time to reply or acknowledge his viewers’ comments.

With a community that continues to grow, Smush sees himself continuing to stream every day. Additionally, he hopes to become a mentor to people eager to follow in his footsteps as a professional gamer.

You can find Mohamad “Smush” Masri streaming on Facebook. He also shares updates on his Instagram and Twitter.
