Will this be a cold November Reign for Jonathan Hay, the musical entrepreneur whom International Business Times described as a “PR mogul?” Hay produced three albums ‘Wish You Were Brooklyn’, ‘House Invasion: Original Soundtrack Album’ and ‘Ketamine Therapy’ which are all set to release this month through R.U.S.H. Music / Kingmaker Music / Fat Beats Records.
The award-winning producer is the creative catalyst behind the forthcoming, ‘Wish You Were Brooklyn.’ According to Forbes, “Hay released five Billboard-charting albums. These records hit more than 30 different Billboard charts in total, topping numerous categories.”
With the Billboard No. 1, ‘Follow the Leader: Reimagined as Jazz,’ Jonathan Hay (and co-producer Benny Reid) collaborated with rap icons Eric B. & Rakim and Brooklyn executive Matt Kemp. Rakim, who is widely considered to be one the greatest rappers of all time, stated to HipHopDX, “Eric B. and I were always heavy in our influence from the jazz genre… and now ‘Follow the Leader [Reimagined]’ is on vinyl for another generation to expand on…” Eric B shared his thoughts with Ron Hart of Billboard, stating, “Let me tell you, I couldn’t have done a better job myself, and I created the original album (laughs). It’s a great body of work, and all the guys should be so proud of themselves.”
With co-signs from one of the most important acts in music history, Jonathan Hay felt galvanized to up the ante for his unique and unorthodox music-making. Hay is looking to return to the Billboard charts with ‘Wish You Were Brooklyn’ – a hybrid of electro jazz / nu jazz that’s subtly layered with touches of house music polyrhythms. Standout tracks on the album include a dance version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” with Hay’s co-producer Robert Ivan and showcasing a wonderful saxophone solo from Benny Reid. Other outstanding songs include “The Williamsburg Hotel,” a collaboration with 41x (Sony Music India), “Stripper from Croydon” featuring LX Xander and “Smells Like Teen Spirit (Bushwick Remix)” featuring Scott Page from Pink Floyd, Atlas Jenkins, Stacia Hitt and Diana Pagan.
The ‘House Invasion’ soundtrack incorporates music from the upcoming docuseries of the same name and is centered around an armed home invasion involving Jonathan Hay while he was working in his apartment on a crisis management situation with Drake. Netflix star Joe Exotic and JT Barnett from the 6x Emmy nominated docuseries ‘Tiger King’ is an executive producer of the true-crime documentary.
‘House Invasion: Original Soundtrack Album’ is a diverse and inclusive body of work with a sonic duality of dark electronic and uplifting house music. Contemporary jazz songs balance the different sonic personalities on this project with a continuity of conflicting musical sounds that seem to work well together. Reality star Solo Lucci from VH1’s flagship television program Love & Hip Hop makes an appearance on House Invasion. Standout songs from the soundtrack include “This is the New Sh*t” featuring Dani Darko and “Pon de Replay” with Matt Berman, who is known for working with Brandon Flowers from The Killers.
‘Ketamine Therapy’ is a studio album that incorporates the techno and music genres and it was first made available on Hay’s Bandcamp and Soundcloud. Tracks to highlight from this exceptional body of work include “Dear Carl Cox”, “One Night in Miami”, and “Fire Kenny Payne”. Jonathan Hay’s acclaimed production has been seen in Rolling Stone, Forbes, Fox News, Grammy, NME, and Spin Magazine. Hay seeks to return to the Billboard charts with the first soundtrack album he’s produced – his wishful ode to Brooklyn and his ketamine therapy sessions.
