When Olga Rokhmanyuk first arrived in Richmond, Virginia, from Kyiv, Ukraine, about 10 years ago, she found herself enveloped in an unfamiliar silence. The language barrier proved a real challenge; words, once her means of communication, suddenly lost their power.

The difficulties of communicating in a new country in a new language became a serious challenge, but at the same time, an opportunity to explore the surrounding space through the universal language of beauty. She picked up a paintbrush and never stopped. Today, she creates vibrant acrylic paintings under the artist name ROArtUS and exhibits her work across the United States and online.

Today, under the artist name ROArtUS – a combination of her initials RO, the word “Art”, and a respect for the country US that gave her the opportunity to start a new life – Olga has transformed this initial silence into a vibrant, recognizable visual language.

Her journey from an artist-designer and interior design professional who received her non-artistic education in Kyiv to a featured exhibitor at The Other Art Fair in Brooklyn (April 16–19, 2026, Booth 95) is a testament to art’s power to transcend borders and personal limitations.

From Interior Design to Fine Art

Olga graduated from college in Kyiv in 1975 with a non-artistic major. She later completed interior design courses in 2007 and built a career rendering ideas by hand. Drawing was always part of her life. She describes her passion for it as “almost predetermined”. But immigration changed everything. Painting became a bridge between her inner world and the people around her.

ROArtUS works spontaneously in acrylic on canvas. She does not use preliminary sketches. Each piece translates emotion directly into color and form. She draws inspiration from the sea, flowers, and landscapes. Her paintings carry the energy of Impressionism, the rhythm of decorative art, and the openness of abstraction. She calls her works “energetic artifacts,” describing them as concentrated spaces of power that invite viewers into a personal exchange.

A Growing Exhibition Record

Since her first solo exhibition, “Flower Fantasy,” at the Richmond Public Library in 2022, Olga has built steady momentum. She held notable solo shows, including “A Place Where Dreams Come True” and “Love Through Amulets” at ART WORKS gallery in Richmond. She holds Silver Member status at ART WORKS and has earned second-place finishes in the gallery’s competitive All Media Shows.

ROArtUS also sells paintings on recognized online platforms. Her work appears on Singulart, Saatchi Art, Artfinder, Artsy, Artmajeur, and at the first three, her works are regularly sold, and at Singulart in April 2026, she was awarded the status of “Bestseller”.

Literally at the time of writing this article, an art collector purchased nine paintings from ROArtUS to create a special energy in their home

Publications in several countries have featured her art. Artmajeur Magazine in France, Opulent Art Magazine, Artwork Gallery Contemporary Art Magazine, Itsliquid, and Ukrainian notable art portal Uartist83 have all highlighted her practice. This growing visibility reflects the strength of her creative voice.

The Other Art Fair, Brooklyn 2026

ROArtUS now prepares for a major step forward. She will exhibit at The Other Art Fair in Brooklyn, New York, from April 16 to 19, 2026, at Booth 95. The Other Art Fair, presented by Saatchi Art, connects independent artists directly with collectors and art lovers. The fair provides a platform where emerging and established creators show and sell original work without gallery representation.

For Olga, this invitation carries deep significance. An artist who once struggled to communicate in a new language now presents her work to a global audience in one of the world’s leading cultural cities. Her paintings speak through color and energy rather than words. That approach resonates with fair attendees who seek authentic, original art. The Other Art Fair draws thousands of visitors each edition. It provides collectors with direct access to artists and their stories. For Olga, the fair offers a chance to share not only her paintings but also the personal narrative behind each piece.

ROArtUS brings a cross-cultural perspective shaped by her life in Ukraine and the United States.

Visitors to Booth 95 will encounter paintings that pulse with vitality and emotional honesty. “My art represents what must be created for the universe by me at this moment and in this place,” she says.

A Philosophy Rooted in the Affirmation of Life

Olga shares insight: “Your fears and winds of change should not make you lose sight of the light of the guiding star that illuminates your path to happiness,” she says. Her own path proves that creative drive can overcome language barriers, geographic displacement, and personal uncertainty. She views each painting as proof that expression does not depend on spoken language. Color, composition, and texture communicate what words sometimes cannot.

ROArtUS says, “My guess is that to stay healthy and live long, a person needs two things: a way to feel joy right now, and something they’re still working on.”

ROArtUS encourages viewers and collectors to engage with art as a living experience. Her motto captures this invitation simply: “ROArtUS – more colors for your life!” Each canvas offers a window into a world built from resilience, observation, and joy.
